DOGS' HAIR COSTUMES.
A,handsome Samoyed -long-haired, pure white, with mild dark eyes, somewhat- resembling a collie dog— led into the lecture room of the Royal Society of Arts, London, one evening recently, m order to demonstrate to textile experts what beautiful hair the breed possesses for the.service of man. The lecturer was Mr. Alfred F. Barker, Professor of Textile Industries, Leeds University. His subject was "Raw Materials in the Wool Industries." He showed some special fabrics -made from hair, and remarked that*, although the trade in these appeared! to be small, the various textile fabrics to be made from different animals Were worthy of careful consideration.
,-.' During the war, when wool was scarce, the combings— the undercoat that comes naturally twice a year from the Samoyed —were woven into cloth in Leeds and made up into garments. It is claimed %at the fabric is t specially suited to the making of women's costumes! '
