GREY STREET MISSION.
NEW BUILDING SCHEME.
CAMPAIGN TO RAISE £5000.
(Published by Arrangement)
For nearly 30 years Sister Hannah, and a large band of unselfish women have been quietly working in Auckland, visiting the hospitals and gaol, providing food and clothing for the poor, and/daily looking after from 20 to 40 little children at the Creche in Grey Street, while the mothers are at work. This work is entirely of ?„n undenominational character.
Sister Hannah and her co-workers have carried out their labours under the most difficult conditions, as the premises in which they live and work are "not only very old, and likely'to fall to pieces, but are totally inadequate.
It has been the aim and hope of these devoted women, for many years past, to have a suitable building in which to carry on the work, and a committee of representative business men is endeavouring to raise the sum of £5000, so that a permanent building; in stone or] brick may be erected. Subscriptions may be sent to any of the undersigned members of the committee Rev. C. H. Grant Cowen, St. Matthew's Vicarage, lion, organiser and treasurer; Mr. H. Gilfillan, National Bank Buildings, Fort Street; Mr. Chas. Hudson, Cleave's Buildings, High Street; Canon C. A. Tisdall, Lad-* ies' Mile, Remuera; Mr. C._ J. Tunks, c.o. Messrs. Jackson, Russell,* Tunks and Ostler, Shortland Street. The treasurer acknowledges with many thanks the following subscriptions received during the last few days :—
