MAXWELL WALKER'S WIN.

The champion of champions bowling contest, under the auspices of the Auckland Centre of the Dominion Bowling Association, was concluded yesterday, the final resulting in Maxwell Walker (Ponsonby), defeating J. WoolleT (Remuera). The play of both the> contestants in the final was magnificent, and provided a fitting termination to the tournament. A feature was the excellent judgment of both players, particularly Walker, who played for position once he was fairly assured of victory. The weather was fine, and the green was in excellent condition. '

The following are the results : — Semi-finals.—Walker (Ponsonby), 20, beat Duffin (Carlton), 14; Johnson (Howick), 19, beat Wooller (Remuera), 13. In the second game between Wooller and Johnson, the former won by 22 points to 11 and qualified to meet Walker in the final. Final.—Walker (Ponsonby), 18, beat Wooller (Remuera), 12. The final between Maxwell Walker and J. Wooller created considerable interest. At the first head Walker drew his second to kitty, Wooller trailing kitty with his second, and lying the shot. Wooller's third drew the shot, but Walker put in a beautiful bowl, and lay three, after a splendid head. With the score at 34, Wooller drew close to the jack with his second at the fourth head, Walker being narrow and missing with his third. Wooller again drew with a beautiful bowl, and was one up. Wooller lay the shot at the fifth head, Walker's second touching the kitty, and, drawing with his last, made two of it. At the sixth head Walker drew his second on to kitty. Wooller drew a splendid shot, touching kitty, but running too far. and Walker made one. The seventh and .. eighth heads left Walker lying three. Walker got the point at the ninth head. At the tenth the Ponsonby bowler drew within four inches of the jack, and scored. . At the eleventh head Wooller lay two, until Walker, with his last, drew on to Wooller's shot, scoring the point. At the twelfth head the scores were: Wooller 5, Walker 12. Walker was lying the shot, when Wooller, with - his third, pushed one through to a fine position. Walker attempted to run it off, but his howl went wide, and Wooller drew another good second, making the score 12— 7 in Walker's favour.

The thirteenth head left holding one point; the Ponsonby bowler got t the fourteenth for one, and the fifteenth for two, Wooller failing to draw in close enough. At the sixteenth head Walker, with his second, got a toucher, Wooller drawing a few inches inside, to score the — B—l6. In the seventeenth Wooller's first was a toucher; he drew with his second, and again with his third, Walker driving and getting one out. Wooller then drew a magnificent shot right on to the kitty, and as Walker missed, the Remuera player scored on the head.

At the eighteenth Wooller fell in front of a good one from Walker's firsthand lay the shot. Walker cleverly beat it, and got the point. At the nineteenth Wooller drew the shot dead to the kitty, Walker lying in a good positron. Wooller, drawing dead again, scored the point. The twentieth head saw Wooller get the shot with a beautiful bowl, but Walker touched kitty with one equally as good. both being perfect shots. The score was 17 to 12.

On the twentieth head Walker played a beautiful shot with his last, almost touching the kitty. The shot pushed Wooller's bowl away, and Walker scored one and won the match: Walker, 18; Wooller, 12.
