John Kales, an Irishman, while staying in London prior to embarking for Australia, met two strangers in the Strand who declared that they also were embarking and ' suggested changing all .their money into Australian notes. They went together to the Commonwealth Bank in Australia House, #here Kales handed over £50 and waited outside, while the other took the money into the bank, but the strangers disappeared.
