AVONDALE MAIN SEWER.
ACCEPTANCE OF TENDER, j PRICE WITHOUT ESTIMATE. Four tenders for the construction of a main sewer in the Avondale district were considered at a meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board last < evening. Prices ranged from £7270 to £9587, and, on the motion of the chairman, Mr. G. Baildon, Deputy-Mayor, it was resolved to accept the lowest, that of H. Moody, of Auckland. The work comprises the construction of over 2400 lineal feet of an egg-shaped sewer, measuring ,3ft. 6in. by 2ft. 4in:, together with piers, man* holes, and an overflow chamber,' all required to connect the Avondale reticulation to the general system. The . tenders were:—H. Moody, £7270 14s 3d; Newby, Burke and Company, £8350 17s 8d; Clark and party, £8770 16s 6d; Curtis and Eastman, of Hamilton, £9587' 12s. The estimate of cost prepared by the board's engineer, Mr. H. H. Watkins, was £7881 14s. - ■ , '
