DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOLS.
INCREASE IN PUPILS. The increasing popularity of the district high schools in the Auckland district, of which there are now 25, was indicated in a return presented to the Education Board yesterday by the senior inspector, Mr. C. W. Garrard. The total attendance at the secondary departments of these schools now stood at 1162. Two . years ago the roll was 765, so that there had been a 50 per cent, increase in that time. The efficiency of the schools was stated to be in creasing year by year, and numbers of pupils in country districts were now receiving secondary education who would have been precluded from so doing but for tho (establishment p£ the schools*
