AUCKLAND BUTTER PRICES.
REDUCTION OF ONE PENNY ' OPERATION FROM TO-DAY. " A reduction of one penny per pound in . the retail : price of ; butter is announced to take place from to-day. • This reduction, it is stated, is in sympathy with the gradual decline that has taken .place. in " ' the export price of . butter ' within the last - few weeks. Local dealers are not quite clear as to the cause of the fall in the ; • London prices, but attribute it -to the effects of the recent dockers' strike., which delayed consignments of dairy : produce. • v It is thought that the: release of. these shipments, • together : with the -advancement of spring and a consequent increase " in the ; production of English and ; Conti- -V nental butter, has had a ' tendency .to demoralise the market. The present London.price is about 181s per cwt. • ". : The " revised wholesale prices, which come into ' operation - to-day, are: "Superfine; .Is 7|d; first . grade, Is 7d; second grade, Is '6d.
