SWORDFISH AND MAKO.
SPORT OFF CAPE BRETT. GOOD CATCHES SECURED. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN cobrbbpondent.] / ; RUSSELL. Wednesday. , During the past week anglers have had some good sport - among the swordfish and mako shark off Cape Brett. • The following catches have been made: Mr. Smith, of Greytown, two swordfish and one mako shark weighing 3281b.; Mr. O'Meara, of Gisborne, one mako shark ; Mr. Falkiner, of $ Australia,; one swordfish and three mako sharks, one tipping the scales at 3291b.; Mr. MSawhiney, of Australia, two swordfish, one weighing 3101b.; Dr. Goodhue, of England, one awordf&h of 2651b.; Mr. Gardner, ;of New Lynn, one mako' shark and one swordfish, on the same day. He also hooked a large swordfish, but there was a sea running, and, after playing it for 4 hours 40 minutes, it broke the rod in half and got away. .
