• I There was little change in the tone of I the Auckland sharemarket yesterday. In I New Zealand Government : securities War | Loans, 1938 , issue, were , sought at £96 12s 6d, with holders at £97 ss. For | the 1941 issue there was no inquiry,' holders offering £96 7s 6d, while the j 1927 issue was sought at £97 7s 6d, no holders responding. In Inscribed Stock, 1927 issue, there was inquiry at £97 5s with holders at £97 10s. A sale of the ! 1929 issue was reported at £97. The 1958 | is*** changed hands at £96 17s 6d, with more on offer at that figure, buyers£96 15s. There was also a sale of "the 1939 issue at £96 17s 6d,. closing quota--1 tions being holders, £97, buyers, £96 15s. There was inquiry, for the 1927-41 issue at £97. Soldiers* Bonds were' quoted by | holders ,! at £101, buyers offering XIOO 7s 6d. ' Soldiers" Inscribed were sought at £100 10s, with holders at £100 15s. In banks Australasias 'at £13 3s 6d were wanted at £13 Is. Com- | mercials of Australia had inquiry at 30s without response. Nationals of New Zealand were in demand at £6 14s, with ; holders at £6 18s. Holders of New South Wales asked £40 10s, buyers remaining at £40. New Zealands wero available at 52s 6d, buyers at 51s 9d. There was no inquiry for- Union of Australia, holders asking £14 10s. In insurances Nationals at 79s were not inquired for. New Zea lands at 29s 9d were sought at 29s 6d. There was a sale of South British at 40s, late quotations being holders 40s 6d. buyers 39s 9d. Standards were sought at 40s without response. In shipping there was a sale of Huddart-Parkers at 42s 9d. In timber Nationals were sold at 225, late quotations being holders 22s 3d, buyers 21s 9d. In mining Moanataiaris had sale at 3s 3d, late sellers 3s Sd, buyers 3s 2d. There was a transaction in Waihis at 31s, late holders ask-' ing 31s 3d, with buyers at 30s 9d. Waihi Grand Junctions at os 2d were sought at 4s lid.

The following sales took place:—New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1929 issue, £97; Inscribed Stock, 1938 issue, £96 17s 6d; Inscribed Stock, 1939 issue. £96 17s 6d; South British Insurance, 40s; > HuddartParker, 42s 9d; National Timber, 22s ; Moanataiari-, 3s 3d; Waihi, 31s.
