BOY TO BE BIRCHED.
GUILTY OF THREE THEFTS. Ten strokes of the birch was the punishment ordered to be meted out to a 14-year-old boy, who came before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., -in • the Juvenile Offenders' Court yesterday, on three charges of theft. The offences war© admitted, The stolen property included a coat, "pair of boots, a bicycle, a wallet, and £2 15s in cash, the total value being £15 &s. On one charge, the boy was ordered to be birched, - and on the others was convicted and discharged.
