Bishopries, wlio recently •esigned his position as headmaster of the I?e Puke main school after 26 years' serrice >i( together with Mrs. Bishoprick, •eceived several presentations yesterday from old scholars, townspeople and the Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Vlr. B. Urquhart, chairman of the school :ommittee, made the various presentations. Other speakers were Messrs. 0. 3oopey (Town JBoard), R. King (Tauranga jpuntv Council), J. A. McGhie (Farmers' Union), Major Bennett and t-he Rev, J, W. Chapman, ali of whom referred to the nany steijing qualities of Mr. Bishoprick. Mr, and Mrs. Bishoprick will leave here this week, via Sydney, on an extended risifc to England, after an absence of over a quarter of a century. Interesting references were made by the speakers at yesterday's function to the growth of the Te Puke school from a small beginning in 1883. To-day it has a total roll number of 320, including the high school. . Mr. A. Bell, from waihi South, who succeeds Mr. Bishoprick, was also welcomed at the gathering. Thd tender of Mr. J. G. Saupders, at £6070, _ for the erection of a new maternity home at' Te Puke has been accepted. The building is to be completed within nine months. The tender of Mr. £ A. Dickson, at £333 18s, has been accepted by the Town Board for the erection of Raymond's Bridge. ' Mr. C. Berring, waterworks overseer, has reported to the Town Board that to extend the water ' supply system to the Mano§ka pa* would cost £300, and that an annual charge of £50 for water would be necessary. This information will be submitted to the Arawa Council. The Town Board has decided to renew the request that the Government acquire the Otawa block as a scenic reserve. This area is said to be the only remaining -native bush left untouched . within easy reach of the township. . *
