ROA DI OPERATIONS. . ,^.Newmarket Borough ; Council met last evening, those present being ; the Mayor,. Mr. S. , Donaldson, and Messrs. P. S. Boon, A. Kent, E. Smerdon, F, J. Cooper; W. Saw bridge, A. Seccombe,. J- T. Watts, and F. J. O'Meara. - The report of the foreman of works stated that; work in George Street was progressing satisfactorily. A portion of the hill near the intersection* of Hill Street had been ploughed up, preliminary to excavation work, arid about 450 yards of material would be removed. Work in Gi.hes Aveime had been 'completed. Eeportjng on the oading operations in Broadway, the borough engineer stated that the concrete foundation to the tramway loop area had / been completed, and reinforfced concrete was now being laid. The portion between 'the Council -Chambers and Messrs. Carpenter's office on the eastern , side wojild Ibo opened 1 to traffic on Friday. .Regarding concreting work in' Park Road, paving had been completed on the western side from the hospital main gate to a point jrst beyond Boyle' Crescent.- ■It was anticipated that the western side of the road : as far as Carlton Road would; 'be finished on Saturday, and 350 ft. .-of road on the southern side from Park Avenue to near the hospital main", entrance would also be available " this week. . • y:* ••' •••-• '• -'*• * ■>/•*
