UNDER LEAGUE RULES.

A PROSPEROUS SEASON.

SOUND FINANCIAL POSITION.

The sound, unassailable financial position of the Auckland Rugby Football League? was emphasised at the meeting of the Management .Committee, last' fevoning by the chairman? Mr. W. J. Hammill, in referring to • the statement of accounts to be presented at the annual meeting of the League next week. The past season had been a very prosperous one, despite adverse circumstances, and after malting all allowances, showed a profit of i 1205, . The chairman said the ' League bad to contend with : gi'eat handicaps last season, iyhioh was commenced under many difficulties. The total income, including gate receipts, £8666, was £4322. After .paying outgoings and expenses, this left a balancte of £1629 for appropriation. After donations to charities, "honoraria, etc.. had been provided for, there was ■ left £1205. Mr. Hammill said that the LeaguVt gave to players ' concessions . which : no other ■■ code gave. . All these tended to : decrease the profits. .'■■ a6d th*) present position was one to be proud of. The assets totalled £8913, and the clear ..excess of assets over liabilities was £6.119. This was a most conservative estimate, and he considered the League was in an unassailable position.

AUSTRALIAN TEAM'S VISIT. The final meeting of last season's Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Football League was lWd lust evening, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Hammill. presiding. The proposed : visit to Auckland of a combined Australian University team, negotiations for which are in progress, were discussed. It was . considered that there was every prospect of the visit being arranged. The visiting team, according to a letter from Sydney,, would comprise many prominent players, including men who have WOn representative honours in the League frame both in Australia and elsewhere. If arrangement# are concluded, the viiit , will be made early in the season, and will be followed shortly afterwards by the English team's tour... , The transfer of G. Paki from the City Club senior grade to the Richmond cl/o was granted. Six applications, for registration were (rranted. only one of the .applicants hiving previously played under tne League code. The annual balance-sheets _ received from tlu various clubs, ghowod that, with onlv one or two exceptions, they were in very sound and satisfactory financial position. ■ Eulogistic reference was made to the valunble services rendered to the League by Mr, G. Rhodes. As a mark of apSreciation, Mr, and Mrs. Rhodes were made onorary ground members at Carjaw Park.
