QUICK-STEP COMPETITION. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CKRISTCHUHCH. Sunday. : A quick-step competition in connection with the band contest was held at the Metropolitan Trotting Club's grounds yesterday afternoon, and attracted an attendance estimated at 20.000. The results were :—Ashburton, 270 points. 1; Woolston. 265£ points. 2; Tnvercargill Battalion and Invercan?ill Hibernian. : f 262 points (equal). 3. Other platings were• St. Kilda, 261 points, 4; Ist: Battalion, Wellington, 256 points, 5; Wellington Tramways, 253 points, 6; Greymouth Battalion, 250J: points, 7; Artillery Band, Dunedin, 245 points, 8; Nelson Garrison and Oamaru, 244 points (equal), 9; Christchurch Tramways, 243 points, 10 Port Nicholson, 226 points, 11. ''■ The contest was- brought to a close last evening with a hymn selection (own choice), in the King Edward ; Barracks, where several thousand people paid " for admission. The results were.:'—-Invercar-cill Hibernian ("Nearer sSMy GodKto Thee"), 1; Christchurch ( Tramways ("Fierce Raged the Tempest"), 2; Ashburton ("Pleasant are Thy ; : v;' Courts Above"), 3.
