GOVERNMENT NOT.: DISTURBED. .-A', report from Dunedin that Sir Thomas Mackenzie expects a general election about December of the present year is not taken seriously in • Auckland political circles. It appears to fail as a convincing prophecy because it contains bo many probabilities. • The rumour was mentioned to the Prime Minister. Mr. Massey smiled. Then he admitted that December was usually the right month for a general election, but was this the right year ? The present Parliamentary calendar, a? it. were, provides for the general election about December, 1925. Many politicians would be very much surprised it it were advanced a year.
