RACING.

THE THAMES MEETING. SUCCESSFUL OPENING. .LANDSLIDE WINS THE CUP. The Thames Jockey Club's annual meeting "was opened at Parawai on Saturday in fine -weather and before a large attendance. The track was in excellent order and the racing was good. The management was highly satisfactory and the programme was got off smoothly.. The Goldfields Cup resulted in a decisive victory for the favourite, Landslide, who was always well placed and took charge about three furlongs from home. After the contest for the Thames Hurdle Eace an inquiry was held into the running of Hyginas, and after a lengthy hearing the Judicial Committee decided that in their opinion the manner in which Tricklebank rode Hyginas was unsatisfactory, more especially at the finish of the race. They therefore decided to impose a fine of £5 on Tricklebank for not vigorously riding his mount out as provided by Rule 10 part xxv of the Rules of Racing. Mr. A. H. Wilson was the stipendiary steward in attendance. The totalisator investments during the day amounted to £21,074 10s, compared with £16,797 last year, which represents an increase of £4277 10s on last year's figures. Details of the Racing. !
