TECHNICAL EDUCATION.

SCHOOL FOR MORRINSVILLE. MINISTER RECOMMENDS VOTE. [Bl' TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. MORKINSVILLEj Monday. The Minister for Education, the Hon. C. J. Parr, visited Morrinsville to-day, accompanied by Messrs. C. E. MacMillan and H. Poland, M.P.'s. The Minister met a large deputation from eight schools adjacent to Morrinsville, urging the claim for a manual" training school to be established at Morrinsville. Mr. Thomas, chairman of the Morrinsville Committee, and others pointed out the difficulties under which children in this district were placed. Mr. Parr said that he recognised that. Morrinsville had a good claim lor a training school, but eleven other districts were in the same position. He would recommend the Cabinet to make a grant for a Morrinsville trainig school ,at the beginning of tha next financial year. He said that for the last three years, out of 396 grants made, 318 were for country schools. A deputation from Tauhei asked for a grant for a teacher's residence. Mr. Parr said that this matter was the second on the list of urgent works in the Auckland district,, and would be attended to immediately. The Minister visited Kiwitahi, unfurled a flag, and gave an address on .loyalty to a large attendance, the children from the Kereone School also attending. Addresses were also given by Messrs. MacMillan and Poland.
