JEWEL THIEF'S DOWNFALL.
TRACED THROUGH DRINK. LONDON. Feb. 3 The butler. Oliver, who robbed Mr. Stephens, the well-known ink manufacturer, of jewels valued at £27,000, has been sentenced to six months' imprisonment. , , , . It appears that he booked a room in Chelsea after the robbery, saying that he had arrived from Australia. He placed under his bed the bag containing the bulk of the jewellery, including a pearl necklace valued at £15,000. He was arrssted for drunkenness before he returned'to Chelsea. The landlady handed over the bag to the police.
