ROADS AT TAURANGA.
COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING. [BX TXLEOaAPH. —OWN 1 CORnESrONDENT.] i TAURANGA. Saturday. The Tauranga County Council held a meeting yesterday in response to a letter from the Katikati Agricultural and Pastoral Association who decided that no authority bo given for the erection of any obstruction on any roads in the vicinity of the Katikati show grounds on Show Day. It was decided that agreement with the Te Puke Town Board, concerning the maintenance of contiguous roads at Te Puke be submitted to the county solicitor, and if the agreement is satisfactory, that the document be signed and sealed.
Tho Public Trust office advised that application for the Otumoetai special rating area loan .. of £12,700 will bo submitted to the beard at an early date.
A long debate ensued on a motion by li£r. C. Lally, that the council make a special order declaring all main roads in the ,Tauranga county to be district roads as from April 1. The motion was carried by five votes, to four. It -was agreed that a remit be sent to the annual meeting of the Bay of Plenty Development League, urgin ■- the Government to construct a railway between Paengaroa and Ho ton: a. A motion was adopted expressing approval of the schedule of main highways as recommended for declaration by No. 3 highways council. The Omokoroa branch of the Farmers' Union forwarded a resolution disapproving of the action of the council in appointing members to the Harbour and Hospital Boards. It was decided that no action be taken.
