ROADS ON SUBDIVISIONS.
QUESTION OF METALLING. f»T IHJWttAPH. —OWN CO&EESPOXDCrr.I TAURANGA. Saturday. The question of whether roads on subdivisions in the country should be metalled was before the Tauranga County Council yesterday. The discussion originated from a request for the council's approval to the formation of a road through a subdivision in the proximity of the borough of Tauranga. Mr. F. Mundt said that the council should consider the question of whether subdivisional roads should be metalled now. The metalling of these roads would mean a heavy cost later on. Mr. A. B. Morton commented on the number of subdivisions that were being made in the country, and he specially mentioned Otumoetai and Mount MaunganuL
The engineer said that metalling was insisted upon by other councils for roads near a borough. The council decided to adjourn the application until the next meeting. Mr. Mundt later gave notice to move at the next meeting that the dedication of any roads in suburban areas be not accepted until such roads are metalled.
