Norman showed wonderful speed in the concluding stages, but tho New Zealander just hung out long enough to win. Harvey Los«s Pole Vault. New Zealand and 'Victoria had an equal number of wins when the final event of the carnival was reached, and Harvey • lost to Harbison at 10ft. 6in. in the pole vault. Subsequently the New Zealander jumped with A. W. Winter (New Soutfe Wales) for second place, and cleared iUtt. 6in. The misfortunes of the carnival -,vere with Che Dominion, as, following on the regrettable accident to Wilson, J. A. C. McKenzie (Otago) disappeared, yesterday, being confined to bed with severe influenza. With all the men available, New Zealand would undoubtedly have carried off the honours. In the finals Victoria obtained six wins and nine seconds; New Zealand six and fcwo respectively; Now South Wales, five tod five; Queensland, two and two; and South Australia and Tasmania no wins. The following are the detailed results 220 Yards.—First heat: Howard (South Australia) beat Parker (Queensland) by two yards in 23 l-ss. Second heat: Scoullar (Queensland) beat Lewis (Queensland) by three yards in 23 l-ss. Third beat: Tracy (New Zealand), after lGQyds., took charge and won by four yards from Anderson (Victoria) in 23a. Fourth heat: Graham (Queensland) beat Westcott (Victoria) by four yards in 23 3-5&. Final: Graham and Tracy fought a desperate finish. The New Zealander was ahead five yards from the tape, but was beaten by three inches. Howard was third three yards away. The winning time was 235. 880 Yards.—Final: Whyte (Victoria), 1; Leitch (Tasmania), 2; Norman (New South Wales),, 3. Leitch led for a time, but Whyte challenged at the turn for home. Mile Championship.— R. Rose (New" Zealand), 1; Hyde (Victoria), 2; Whyte (Victoria), _3. , After half a mile Rose went to the front and the result never was afterwords in doubt. In the last lap Hyde challenged the New Zealander, who at once drew out, finishing brilliantly and winning by 10yds. The third man was 15yds. away. Time, 4m 28s. ■'

440 Yards , Final—Tracy (New Zealand), 1; Norman (New South Wales), 2; Carroll (Victoria), 3. When half the journey was traversed, Tracy went to the front and led Norman slightly. The latter came determinedly over the last 50yds., but the New Zealander lasted just long enough to win by a foot in 50 3-ss.

Beaurepaire, 2; M. Christie, 3. Borg went to the front at the start, and gradually increased his lead. Ha won easily by 55yds. in 10m Bs.,

CENSURE OF VICTORIA. DISPUTE OVER OFFICIALS. A, and N.Z. HOBART. Feb. 8. At a meeting of the council of the Australasian Amateur Athletic Association, presided over by Mr. B. Coombes; on a motion of the Tasmanian delegate, a resolution was passed stating "that the council deplores the attitude of the Victorian association in withdrawing its officials from the championships as a protest against* the appointment of Mr. R. Coombes, which action is considered derogatory to amateur sport and decidedly against its principles, and that the council confirms the action taken by Tasmania in appointing such officials as it thought just and righto in carrying out the championships." The Victorian delegates refrained from voting.
