Avalanches in the Austrian Alps are causing unprecedented loss of life and property. Railway, postal, and telegraph services havo stopped in many districts, Several trains were buried, and drivers and firemen were burned to death. Eight workers* two telegraphists, ac 3 three schoolchildren were killed.
