FOUR WIVES MURDERED. LONG LIFE OF LUXURY. A.', and N.Z. LONDON. Feb. 8. The Geneva correspondent of the Daily Express says that Jacob Zeller, aged 90, was arrested at Stuttgart a few days ago and charged with murdering his first four wives with poisoned champagne. Zeller married altogether six times. His fifth wife hanged herself. Zeller married a mouth ago a beautiful 18-year-old girl. Three days ago she reported at a police station that her husband had given her champagne from which a vapour arose. When she complained that it tasted bitter Zeller attacked her and tried to make her swallow a glassful. But the young bride escaped. After making her statement at the police station she collapsed and went to hospital, where she was found to be suffering from sulphuric acid poisoning. Zeller, v. hen arrested, admitted poisoning his first four wives. He cynically added: "I led a comfortable, honourable life. Now I am too old to be sentenced to death for crimes." Zeller lived in luxury in a large villa.
