SCOUT NEWS.

BT KTTAKA. There Was an excellent muster, of tho St. Barnabas' troop last Friday evening. A number of the troop committee were present to bid farewell to their popular scoutmaster, Mr. E. W. Moore, who is leaving Auckland to take up his residence in Dunedin. Scoutmaster Moore officially handed over the troop to Assistant- '» Scoutmaster Peek, who will * act as scoutmaster in the meantime. The Ponsonby troop has made a good start for the' year. This troop made exceptionally good progress during the past 12 months, and has now 27 on the roll. Of this number 22 have passed tenderfoot, seven second-class, and four are well on the way to first-class. The newly-formed Wolf Cub Pack is making good progress. The Leys Institute troop has start-ad work in earnest, and had a very good parade on Friday night. At a recent meeting the troop was reorganised, the following appointments being made: —Patrol leaders; N. Simmonds, D. Davidson, W. McNeil, M. Wheeler. Seconds: A. Vette, A. Tipp, F. Combes. R. Swinton, and W. Laidlaw. A patrol of cubs has been drafted from the pack, with J. Smith as leader and B. Rogers as second. line Grey Lynn junior troop, under Scoutmaster Fitzsimmoirs, paraded on Friday evening with a good muster. The work comprised general scout work. A number of the boys are preparing for the first-class test, the seven trek being done over • the week-end. The senior troop paraded at the conclusion of the juniors' meeting, there being a full mus- , ter. Arrangements are almost complete for the great rally and inspection ,by the Governor-General at the Domain next Saturday. Troops will muster at Beresford Street at 1.30 p.m., markers to report to District Scoutmaster L. C. Rasmussen, at 1.25 p.m. Packs will meet in" Grafton Road at the same hour. Motion pictures of the rally will be sent to the Great Jamboree to be held at Wembley. A number of the Japanese cadets, who arrive in Auckland to-morrow, are exscouts, and boys who volunteer as guides; to show them about our city should send their names to headquarters, giving Addresses, immediately. It is' hoped a number of men from the squadron will ib«j present at the tally on Saturday..
