COUNTY COUNCIL MEETING. TUT TKLEOBAPH. OWN rorjIESrOJT7)ENT.I PAEKOA. Saturday. The Ohinemuri County Council met yesterday at Paeroa, Mr. A. R. Robinson presiding. The Mines Department wrote authorising maintenance grants for: (1) Waimata Road £33, being £1 for £2. An estimated expenditure of £100; (2) Houmanga Road £50, being £1 for £2, on cost of £150 ; (3) Pukewera Road £53, toward estimated expenditure of £iuo. The expenditure of these grants was referred to the engineers for a report. The resident eujjineer of the Public Works Department wrote stating that his department had authorised the expenditure of £100 toward giving road access to the Waitewhetu Block. The council was advised that a. commission comprising Messrs. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., chairman, W. F. Marsh, Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland, and W. F. Wallis, district valuer, nad been appointed to consider proposed alterations of the boundaries between the Ohinemuri County and the Paeroa Borough. It was -decided to 'grant the request for reduction of rent for the Dixon special quartz claim at Maratoto. Several letters from different parts of the county Were received complaining about wandering cattle. The council decided to take action to abate the nuisance. It was decided to take a poll of ratepayers as to the advisability of adopting the system of rating on unimproved values.
