CONCERT AT ROTO BOA.
ENJOYABLE GATHERING. An interesting ooncert took place on Friday at the Inebriates' Institution at Roto Roa, when a large party of visitors from Cowfcs Bay and the neighbourhood combined with the Salvation Army official's of the * island,. their wives, families, and the inmates in giving an entertainment. The performance lasted over three hours and every item was encored, a feature being the fine talent displayed by the inmates. The Cowes Bay orchestra and quartette party provided a feast of enjoyment, while Miss Hopper, in delightful finished vocalisation, was recalled again and again. Mr. Hobson's elocution was warmly received, while Mr. Weir in mandoline selections and humorous songs brought down the house. The island schoolmaster, Mr. G. H. Greenbow, worked nobly in piano and song, while Ensign and Mrs. Rive delighted all in solos and duets. Miss Gnnn and Master Lloyd Stone, children respectively of Army brigadiers, proved they could in reciting hold their own against good talent. The inmates, who shall be nameless, surprised the visitors with their trained voices rnd artistic contributions.
The new manager, Brigadier B. J. Stone, presided, and with his genial and happy manner contributed in no small degree to the success of the evening.
