YACHTING.
DEYONPORT REGATTA One of the results of the rush of .yachtsmen to join the motor-boat patrol during the war was tie suspension of the activities of the Devonport Yacht Club, which was second in seniority to the squadron. This year active spirits have revived the club and the red flag with the -white cross is to be seen flying on many boats. The club has enlisted the assistance, of the citizens of Devonport and is promoting a regatta and sports meeting, to be held on February 23. The programme provides for yacht,, launch and speed boat races, dinghy eirentu, tugs-of-war on the water and on land, naval boat events, rowing and swimming. The Devonport Fire Brigade will give demonstrations of life saving and its annual competitions; and by mutual arrangement the Auckland Rowing Association will decide the Auckland provincial championships. , ; The Devonport ■ Borough* Council has granted? the use of the Windsor reserve for the day and all the usual side-shows will be provided. In the evening the reserve will be lighted and a water scens, with 30 illuminated boats, is to be staged. In addition there will be jazz ■ dancing, a radio concert, moonlight excursion and a -fireworks display. REGATTA PRIZES. The prizes won at the Auckland Anniversary Regatta will be presented by the Mayer, Mr. J. H. Gunson, at the Chamber of Commerce on Monday evening.
