ADVERISING AUCKLAND
EXHIBITION PROPAGANDA,
£1000 TO BE RAISEb.
A decision to endeavour to raise £51000 for advertising Auckland at the British' Empire Exhibition was made at a meeting of business men held at the Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Mr. A. A. Martin presided.- v Mr .J."A. C- Allum said it had been represented to the Industrial Association, of-which, he is president, that Auckland 1 would be very badly advertised at the. exhibition a* far as propaganda material -was concerned. Every other district had undertaken propaganda. Unless Auckland bestirred itself -and... spent some money people in England would not get to know anything about Auckland. His association wag prepared to donate £100 for a reasonable advertising scheme,. provided .that other associations took their share. ' • It was decided to aim at £1000 for advertising the. province. Representatives of several associations stated that their association!! would consider the matter of contributing. In all cases it thought that donations would be forthcoming. The meeting adjourned for a fortnight to give an opportunity for the matter to be'brought before the associations. A committee waa appointed to submit proposals for spending the money.
