EMPIRE EXHIBITION.
FELLOWSHIP ' FORMED. '' IMPERIAL SCHOLARSHIPS. EDUCATION AND SETTLEMENT. Br Telegraph Press Association—Coprricit. ' • . (Received 4.5 p.m.) •. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Dec. 16. The formation is announced of an Empire Exhibition Fellowship, the objects of which afe to carry out a scheme of Imperial Education, to stimulate Empire trade and to assist better distribution of the Empire's population. The fellowship will grant a number of Empire scholarships of £1000 each which ■will be available for young citizens of the United Kingdom to settle in on of the Dominions and for young Dominion citizens to undertake a university or technical education course in the Motherland. In either case the recipient will have the option of staying in his own.country and using, the scholarship for a start in life. The subscription to the fellowship will be two guineas, and the certificate of membership will carry with it free admission to the exhibition.. The Prince of Wales, accepting the presidency, writes: "I think that many thousands throughout the Empire wish to do something mora for the Exhibition's success than to visit it once or twice. The fellowship, with its programme of Imperial education, scheme of settlement scholarships and the provision of season tickets to the Exhibition, is intended to meet these cases. ' I hope to see' the membership grow in every part of the Empire." Sir Henry McMahon, chairman of the executive committee of the Exhibition, in a statement, explains that the fellowship will last only for the period of the Exhibition, but the committee expocts that the membership certificate signed by the Prince of Wales... will be a reminder in future years of responsibilities to the Empire. The fellowship is to be organised in three sections, namely, . the Dominions, London and the Test of the United Kingdom Sir' Hamnet Share is the president, the Earl of Galway a member of the com. mittee for the Dominions' group,' and Mr. Frank Fox, general secretary. .
