ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
CURRENT FOR TRAMWAYS.
QUICK WORK IN ERECTION.
The Auckland Electric Power Board met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, presiding. The following tenders were accepted: — Extension of outside coal conveyor, British General Electric Co., £630; street lighting cables, Richardson and McCabe, £7583 17s 6d.
The report of the manager and engineer, Mr. A. Wyllie, stated that he expected 1 to be in a position to give the Tramway Department about. 1000 kilowatts from Newmarket sub-station from December 17, to help it through' the Christmas holidays. " We shall be in a position on December 20 to take over the whole D.C. load of the Tramway Department at Hobson Street, added the report. The third rotary converter at Hobson Street was landed on December 5, and was erected and started up by December 17. This is one of the smartest pieces of work ever done."
