SEWERAGE WORKS PROGRESB. IMPROVEMENT OF ROADS. The Mount Eden Borough' Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. E. H. Potter, presiding. There were also "present Messrs. W. Woolley, J. Satisfactory progress with all . work* under the sewerage scheme 'was reported by thfl engineer, . Mr. "J. Rogers. The sections completed were Croydon Road extension and the whole of the block i between Mount Eden" ; Road and ?■ Enfield Street," where private connections could be installed.

The , erigmer reported that the improve ment of Windmill Road had been put in hand and good progress had been made with metalling, etc. Be had made : use of stone front sewerage, excavation to provide a. quantity of metal, thereby con? siderably reducing the cost of the work. The metalling of .Disraeli Street carriageway was of considerable importance "and as this adjoined Windmill Road and tho plant was conveniently situated, he recommended that:. the'' work be proceeded with on completion of Windimll Read. This recommendation was adopted. ; Mr. Rogers brought before toe *> notice of the council the fact that the loan estimates for- the concreting of Mount Eden and Dominion Roads \i provided' for - the alteration and duplication of the water mains, s work which , involved considerable engineering,, and should ; be taken in . hand promptly, ! flsv the ; concreting could not be done until the'alterations had been completed. A -request by the Mount IteskUl Road Board to allow " the ' Mount Eden Fire Brigade to extend operations to the western portion of Mount Rosfeill • district' was referred to the Fire Brigade Committee, & The next meeting of ' the council;■ will be held on January 21. ' \-
