ISLANDERS' APPRECIATION. CURIOS .. IN ACKNOWLEDGMENT, A .« —-• ' Appreciation by the inhabitants of Pitcairn Island for donations of small parcels of clothes, books and cotton piece goods and other articles,; is indicated in letters just . to hand with reference to a consignment collected and forwarded by an Auckland lady some few months ago. The' following .• extracts are of interest as showing the sincerity of the islanders: — "Thank you very much for same, they have been shared cut as best we could for all in a community of 180 and every family had something from the cases and parcels." "Though we are 1 far separated rem the world at large, stall the blessings &nd favours which we receive from the dear friends from abroad are far more than we deserve." "We cannot adequately express our gratitude to the owners of the mail steamers for allowing their vessels to pay "us a visit." As a tangible expression of appreciation for the good things sent, the islanders are forwarding a box of curios for distribution among the donors of the parcels forwarded, and this is expected to reach Auckland this week. : Further particulars are obtainable on communicating with P.O.
