RUAPEHU FROM SOUTHAMPTON. The New Zealand Shipping Company's ' . liner Ruapehu is due at 3 p.m. to-day with < passengers and cargo from _ London and Southampton. The vessel will berth after medical inspection at the Queen's Wharf to disembark 297 passengers - for New Zealand. Her cargo is for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. AWAHOU LOADS TO-DAY. The Richardson steamer Awahou is due from the coast to-day. The vessel will berth at the Queen's Wharf to load to-day and to-morrow morning for Tokomaru Bay, Tolaga Bay and Gisborne. . • The Mako is at present loading wool on the East Coast and is not 'Sxpocted back -at Auckland before the New Year. NOWSHERA FROM AMERICA. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received advice that the A. and A. steamer Nowshera sailed from Philadelphia on November 27, and New York on December 12, • ■ with cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, L/ttelton, Dunedin. and Melbourne. The vessel is due at this port about January 12. ■' HUIA'S SAILING DATES. — The steamer Huia is timed to leave Auckland at 5 p.m. to-day for Whangarei Town Wharf. Robert Millar and Company advise that on account of the holidays, the vessel • will sail from Auckland at 7 a.m. on Saturday ." December 22, instead of Monday, December 24, and again on Saturday, December 29, instead of on Monday, December 81. SUGAR CARGOES FROM SYDNEY. Interesting events in the export trade of Sydney will take place shortly, when there will be sent from-tiat port to the United Kingdom two large consignments of sugar by the steamers Diogenes and Port Lyttelton. These are probably the first shipments of the kind that have ever gone forward from Sydney if not Australia. So far as is known at present, no arrangements have been made for future consignments. ■* AQUITANIA'S FUEL CONSUMPTION. During the run from »New York to South- % ~ ampton, the Aquitania of the Cunard Line burns 83,000 barrels of oil—7oo tons a day. She takes on enough lifluid fuel while •"in New York to supply her fires for the ' round trip and has teen bunkered in nine and one-half hours. The rapid method _of oil bunkering enables her to make a quick ♦urn-around both in New York and South"ampton. The services of but three men are required to fill her bunkers with oil. It " would require 12 gangs of men to load her - - with coal for a trip—and such men are hard - to find as no one seems to want to shovel - soft coal out of the hull of a canal boat, even though the wages ' M far shove the average for labourers. THE KENT. - The Federal Line steamer Kent is to sail to-morrow afternoon for Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharge of her cargo from Liverpool. TO PITA'S NEXT SAILING- DATE. The Union Co's Island steamer Tofua, is scheduled to sail from Auckland for the Islands on Tuesday, January 6. She vill await the arrival of the Marama that day from Sydney. ? THE TREFUSIS. The Hain uteamer Trefusis is to sail on Wednesday afternoon for southern ports and Australia to complete discharge of her cargo from Montreal. TREVITHICK DELAYED. The Hain steamer Trevithick. which is discharging cargo , from Texas at the King's Wharf, is being delayed by a scarcity of railway trucks, and consequently will not leave Auckland in continuation of her voyage until about the end of the week. SOUTHERN CROSS DUE TO-DAY. The Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross is due back at Auckland to-day, after a cruise of nearly three months in the South-west Pacific. She will berth at the Queen's Wharf. ' THE KAIKOURA. The New Zealand Shipping Co.'s steamer Kaikoura is to leave Auckland at 5 p.m. to-day for Wellington. She is to leave Auckland at 11 a.m. the following day for Sydney. MANUKA FROM SYDNEY. TO-MORROW. The Union inter-Colonial steamer' Manuka, which sailed from Sydney for Auckland at mid-day on Friday, is bringing 215 saloon and 121 steerage passengers, as well as cargo and mails for this port. She is due to-morrow morning. The Manuka is scheduled to leave Auckland at I 11 a.m. on Thursday instead of Friday, the usual sailing day. KOMATA'S ITINERARY. , The Komata, on route from Southern ports, sailed from Lyttelton at 1 p.m. on Friday for Wellington, Napier, and Auckland. She is due here about Wednesday,, and after discharge the vessel will proceed to Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Oamaru and Timaru. - - CANADIAN MILLER ARRIVED. The Canadian Government steamer Canadian Miller arrived last night from Montreal and anchored in the stream. She will berth at the King's Wharf this morning to uncharge general merchandise for New Zealand.
