THE POLL IN MOUNT EDEN.
Sir, — sub-leader in Thursday's Herald was timely and to the point, and I am sure that every right-thinking ratepayer in Mount Eden will endorse the sentiments expressed therein. When it i 3 considered that every issue put forward by the council was carried by substantial majorities, even the most biassed ratepayer (and we have some good samples in Mount Eden) must acknowledge the result to be a vote of confidence in the present council. The result is the more gratifying considering the organised opposition of . Mr. Kayll and his party. These people have shown by their tactics that they were prepared to sacrifice the borough's interest, to gratify their petty personal jealousies. Their arguments . consist mostly of personal abuse of the various councillors. The council can now carry on knowing that they have the full confidence of the majority of the ratepayers, arid that the organised opposition, in spite of questionable tactics, have been very effectively put in their place. • Fair Plat.
