STOCKS AND SHARES.

There was little change in the tone, of the Auckland sharumarket yesterday.; No business was done in Government securities. New Zealand War Loans, 1938, were quoted at £96 15s, with no buyers. Soldiers' loan bonds were wanted at £100 10a and inscribed stock in the same wan at the same figure, holders of the latter asking £101. New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1938, at £97, was sought at £96 10s. There was inquiry for the 1927 issue at £97 5s and for the 1927-41 issue at, £98, no sellers responding in either case. In banks New Zealands (old issue) had sale at. sls 9d, buyers closing at 61s 6d, sellers 52s 3d. The new issue was wanted at 50s. Nationals of New Zealand at £6 17s 6d, had buyers at £6 15s. In insuraces.New Zealands changed hands at 28s . 9d, more being available at that figure,buyers closing at 28s 7d. South British were done at 38s 3d, late buyers 38s, sellers 38s 6d. . Nationals were on offer at 775. In coali* Hikurangis (pref.) had sale at 6d. In gas Aucklands (contributing) were sold at 3s sd, late sellers asking 3s 6d, buyer* 3s 4d. Most miscellaneous lines were quoted at about late rates. Wilsons (New Zealand) Cements changed hands at 28s, at which figure more were available, buyers closing at 27s lOd. In mining Waihis wera done at 28s 9d, 28s 7d, and 28s 6d, rising again to 28s 9d. Sellers closed at 295, buyers 28s 9d. Grand Junctions, at 4s 9d, were wanted at 4s 6d, The following sales took place:— of New Zealand (old issue), 51s 9d ; New Zealand Insurance, 23s 9d; South British Insurance, 38s 3d ; Hikurangi Coal (pref.), 6d; Auckland Gas (con.), 3s sd: Wilsons Cement, 28s: Waihis, 28s 9d, 28s 7d, 28s 6d, 28s 9d.
