ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.

ELECTION OF OFFICIALS. RACE FOR SPEED BOATS. The Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee met % last evening. Mr. T. M. Alexander presided, and there was a fair attendance of members.

The following officers were elected:— Patron, the Governor-General, Lord Jellicoo; vice-patrons, Mr. W. F. Massey, Mr.. H. R. Mackenzie, and Commodore A. S. Beal; president, Mr. J.' H. Gunson.

Wilkinson mullet boats, Messrs. A. Braund, A. Deacon, and J. Longbottom; 18ft. classes and under, Messrs. H. R. Arthur, E. Daniel, and A. Tobin; starter, Mr. A. Deacon; assistant starters, Messrs. E. Palmer, Hewson, Mahon, and Leyland; handicappers, Messrs. Kelly, Buchanan, and Butler It was decided to hold a combined open speed championship and handicap race for speed boats.. The first prize for the championship will be £25, and a pennant, while the winner of the handicap event will receive £30, the second boat £10, and the third £5. The competitors must attain a speed of over 20 knots, and three boats must start to make a race. In the event of entries being received from oth-;r provinces or from Australia the prize for he speed championship will be increased to £30. ______
