ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.
ELECTION OF OFFICIALS. RACE FOR SPEED BOATS. The Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee met % last evening. Mr. T. M. Alexander presided, and there was a fair attendance of members.
The following officers were elected:— Patron, the Governor-General, Lord Jellicoo; vice-patrons, Mr. W. F. Massey, Mr.. H. R. Mackenzie, and Commodore A. S. Beal; president, Mr. J.' H. Gunson.
Committees were appointed as follows: Progressive and publicity, Messrs. J. H. Frater (chairman), A. Deacon, R. Nesbitt, W. A. Wilkinson, A. J. Collings, C. H. Palmer, S. H. Leyland, G. E. Laycock; reserve and flagship, Messrs. A. Burt (chairman), C. H. Palmer, D. Mulvihill, C. H. Smith, J. Hawsley, A. G. Lunn; handicappers: Yachts,. Messrs. M. Kissling, G. S. Beid, and W. A. Wilkinson mullet boats, Messrs. A. Braund, A. Deacon, and J. Longbottom; 18ft. classes and under, Messrs. H. R. Arthur, E. Daniel, and A. Tobin; starter, Mr. A. Deacon; assistant starters, Messrs. E. Griffiths, J. Megham, and 0. Johnson; judge, Mr. T. Longbottom; timekeepers, Messrs. E. 8. Kohn and 0. Johnson; recorder, Mr. L. G. Mahon; sailing committee, Messrs. T. M. ■ Alexander (chairman), A. Braund, E. B. Webster, W. A. Wilkinson, T.. McWhirter, P. Boonstra, and M. Kissling. Motor-boat Officials.Judge, Mr. A. G. Lunn; timekeepers, Messrs. E. L. Buchanan, E. J. Kelly; racing committee, Messrs. Palmer (chairman), Kelly, Leyland, C. Butler, and Buchanan; starter, Mr. C. Butler; assistants, Messrs. S. H. Leyland and W. D. Ross; result committee, Messrs. Palmer, Hewson, Mahon, and Leyland; handicappers, Messrs. Kelly, Buchanan, and Butler It was decided to hold a combined open speed championship and handicap race for speed boats.. The first prize for the championship will be £25, and a pennant, while the winner of the handicap event will receive £30, the second boat £10, and the third £5. The competitors must attain a speed of over 20 knots, and three boats must start to make a race. In the event of entries being received from oth-;r provinces or from Australia the prize for he speed championship will be increased to £30. ______
