NO LAND FOR ALIENS.
AMERICAN LAWS UPHELD.
PRESS COMMENT IN JAPAN.
A. and N.Z. TOKIO. Nov. 23. Japanese press comment on the United States Supreme Court decisions, upholding the State laws of California and Washington, which debar aliens ineligible for citizenship from holding land, is generally dignified and reserved. The Chugai Shagyo regrets the evidence of racial discrimination, which is inconsistent with humanity, justice and benevolence, to which the American people and Government are traditionally pledged. The Kokumin advises the Government to redouble its efforts to settle the immigration question, because Japanese and American friendship will never be permanently cemented until the spirit of discrimination is eliminated.
