TE AROHA AFFAIRS.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA. Saturday. Mr. A. J. Baker, Public Works Engineer, Auckland, conferred yesterday with representatives of Iho To Arolia Borough Council and the Piako County Council, relative to the proposal to erect a new traffic bridge across the Waihou River at Te Aroha, to take the place of the existing narrow and dangerous structure. Mr. 0 E. Macmillan, M.P., also was present. A baby show and garden party was held in aid of the local branch of the Plunkefc Society, at the residence of the Mayoress (Mrs. Gordon). Tho awards in the" baby competition were made according to public vote, the results being as follows:—Child under 12 months, John Land 1; over one year and under two years, George McMahon 1 For the best decorated pram Mrs. F. T. rfaUigan secured the honours. The presentation of tho prizes was made by the Mayor. The Hon. W. Nosworthy and R. *. Bollard are expected to visit -his disairt on December 4, when several deputations •will wait upon them in confection, with district needs.
