ADVANCEMENT OF NORTH.
PROGRESS LEAGUE'S WORK. [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGARfeI. Saturday. The Mayor of Whangarei, Mr. D. A. McLean, who is president of the Whangarei branch of the North Auckland Progress League, accompanied by Mr. A. T. Bainsby, visited Dargaville last evening and attended a meeting of delegates from the Hobson County Council, Dargaville Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce, and other bodies. Mr. R. E. Hornblow, Mayor of Dargaville, presided. The Whangarei representatives gave addresses, and after a discussion of the prospects of the league, the Hobson County branch was formed. Mr. Hornblow Was appointed chairman provisionally, and a committee was formed to organise the district in support of the proposal.
