GROWTH OF WAITOA.
NEW POST OFFICE OPENED. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA. Saturday. The rapidly developing township of Waitoa advanced another step in the march of progress to-day, when the commodious and .up-to-date new post office was officially opened by Mr. H. Poland, M.P. Other speakers were Messrs. 0. E. Macmillan, M.P. ; G. W. Clark, acting chief postmaster at Hamilton ; and F. W. Walters, chairman of the Piako County Council. The speakers all made reference to the remarkable advancement of the district during the last few years, the progress resulting in the establishment of a branch of a bank and now the new post office, as well as other public buildings. The amount of business now being met in both passenger and goods 'traffic at the Waitoa railway station is, in the opinion of the settlers, sufficient to warrant the appointment of a stationmaster, and a petition praying the Department to act in this direction was handed to Mr. Poland.
