LBS TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT.] KUMEU. Saturday. The decision arrived at by a meeting held in the Pomona Hall, a month ago, to the effect that the hall be disposed of was to have been confirmed at a meeting called for that purpose this week. Matters, however, took a different course and as a result of the meeting it was decided that the movement to sell the hall be dropped and that it be retained. Messrs. J A. LambdY.ii, S. Hanham a d K. Cottlo were elected trustees and a committee was appointed to manage affairs in connection with the hall. Mr. Lambden was elected president, with Mr. R. Glasgow as vice-president, Mr. S. Hanham, as secretary, and Mr. G. Wilkinson as librarian.

The local Medical Association Executive havo matters well in hand with regard to arrangements for obtaining a medical officer. Tho committee is awaiting the decision of the Auckland Hospital Board with regard to subsidy before inviting applications. . Advice has been received that the hours of attendance at the local telephone exchange will shortly be extended. The new hours will bo from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

A poll in connection with loan proposals for tho metalling of roads in the Kurneu Riding of the Waitemata County will be taken on December 12. The proposal is to borrow £30,000 and the amount includes provision for the purchase of up-to-date motor trucks and a road rone,. If the ratepayers of th<) Riding heed the recommendation made by the Hon. J. G. Coates on his recent visit to the district there is no- doubt that the proposals will be carried by an overwhelming majority. The Ratepayers' Association of Lumen and the Waimauku Progressive League are sparing no efforts to make the poll a record one
