SCOTTISH MASONRY.

Sir,—Unler the above heading I drew attention to a statement in the Diamond Jubilee lumber of the Herald, which I considered might be misleading to many Masonic brethren, namely ,that Lodge St. Andrew 418, Scotish Constitution, was now St. Andrew No. 8. N.Z.C. Mr. J. D. Webster has replied saying your statement is absolutely correct and finishes his letter by saying Lodge St. Andrew is a fine lodge and a credit to all concerned. How then can Lodge St. Andrew, 418, S.C., be now No. 8, N.Z.C. when the mother lodge is still in existence ana has never ceased working since founded. The fact that everything possible was dono to put it out of existence, does not prove that the attempt was successful. I do not wish in any way to disparage No. 8 N.Z., which is an off-shoot of St. Andrew 418 Scottish, but simply to correct any impression which may be given to readers of the Herald outside of Auckland that this old-established lodge is dead when it is very much alive. John Hume, District Grand Secretary (N.T.), S.C.
