A. and N.Z. v NEW YORK. Nov. 22. Republicans arc seeking to catch the vote of the farmers, who are at present' dissatisfied, by offering them a programme including a great canal systejn from Chicago to New Orleans. Central Western fanners are now handicapped in delivering their produce to Europe and the Atlantic seaboard cities. Transport .would bo reduced to one-third by a waterway connecting the Mississippi with the Great Lakes.
