Mr. Shayle Gardner, Auckland, is now on the way to recovery after • his very serious attack of typhoid which developed shortly after his , return from Brittany; where he bad been spending a short seaside holiday. He is, of course, still in the nursing home, and it will be a considerable time yet before he completely recovers his strength. Mr. Gardner hopes that it will be possible for "him to I- go to the South of France early in the New Year and he contemplates: later returning to. New Zealand. Recent visitors to the nursing home have included Sir - James l and Lady A'llpn. > - ■' Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Pagni, Auckland,' travelled overland from Naples where they landed in June, * and they have • since visited Italy, France, and Belgium. While in Italy they, motored through the Italian Battlefield area, and of course they included all the principal Italian centres oh their tour. w Mr. and; Mrs. Pagni - are at present in London and thev boon to »r av? l through to Scotland and Wales if the weather proves .favourable. lh*-« have booked return passages by the Montdare, sailing from Liverpool on November 23.
