MOTOR-CYCLE RACES.

OTAHUHU CLUB'S OPENING.

The first race meeting of the Otahnhu Motor-cycle Club will be held to-morrow afternoon on the Avondale Racecourse, the opening event being timed for 1.30 p.m. A feature of the entries is the large number of riders who will make their dolmt in track competition. Most of New Zealand's leading racing men have notified their intention to be present and to further improve the meeting the club has, it is understood, undertaken the expense of bringing north the heavy-weight champion, P. Coleman. Other leading riders competing are Mangham, Whitehead, Blackmore, McCready ' and . Souter. After his winning of three races in succession at Rotorua it will be interesting to see if Elackmore can repeat tho performance at Avondale. Sbakespear is another rider of whom great things are predicted. He is riding the same type of machine as trio one Coleman is using, and on which he won the Heavy-weight Championship at Christehujrch on Labour Day. The big race of the day, timed for about three o'clock, is the 12-mile Otahuhu Handicap, for which a very large field is entered. Up to a late hour yesterday the secretary had not received the handicaps, which are being prepared in Hamilton. Special bus and train services have been arranged.
