The system, which i 3 claimed to Have found greatfavour in England, Denmark, and other countries, consists of allowing each craft as handicap, a definite proportion of the time the craft takes to sail the course. Once ascertained, the proportion is not v.-aied, unless examination discloses a defect. Mr. _BL R. Arthur has gone very lolly into the system, and has arrived at a suitable basis on which to compute the factors. A new launch has just been completed j by Messrs. T. M. Lane and Sons for Messrs. IJcclee, 1 Shepherd, and Jupp, 01 Birkenhead. She is 30ft. by 7ft. 6in., and is of the cruiser type. A feature of this craft is that she is fitted with a patent reversing raider,. which obviates the use of.' either clutch or reverse gear. Her power plant consists of a 25-h.p. .. motor. A 34ft. by Bft, 6in. cruiser, to the order of Mr. D. Teed, is also under construction at Lane's yards. This boat, which will be fitted with a ; 100-h.p. engine, has two separate cabins and an engine room.
