MUSEUM FOR HAMILTON.

PROPOSAL TO COUNCIL. [by telegraph.—own correspondent] HAMILTON. Thursday. A proposal to purchase the Masonic Hall at Hamilton East for social purposes and for the accommodation for the nucleus of a museum was favourably commented on at the meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last evening. The Hamilton East Citizens' Association advised that it had secured the option over the building at a low price, and considered {hat a poll should be taken on the question of raising a loan, with which to purchase it The Mayor said the town had lost some valuable collections of curios simply because there; had been nowhere to house them. The council referred the matter to its Legal and Finance Committee.
