Miss Margaret Bondfield's first duty after her election as chairwoman of the Trades Union Congress was to tackle the lock-out of boilermakers, which has lasted 28 weeks. An agreement has now been readied by the conference. Besides 10,000 boilermakers, the dispute affects 60,000 other shipbuilding workers, and has entailed a loss of £7,000,000.
