Hall Thompson succeeds Vice-Admiral Sir Allan Everett as First Naval Member of the Commonwealth Naval Board. SERVICES DURING THE WAR. [BY TELEGRAPH.— CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. Rear-Admiral P. H. Hall Thompson as commissioned to H.M.S. Philomel at Wellington on July 15, 1914, and commanded That vessel at Samoa. Afterwards he was in charge of the Philomel in action at Alexandretta in February, 1915. He saw subsequent sen-ice in the Red Sea and was senior naval officer in the Persian fiulf. He was naval adviser to the New Zraland Government from 1916 until 1913. On August 4, 1919, he was relieved by Commodore Williams and sailed from New Zealand on August 11. On December 1. ho was appointed to tho command of H.M.S. Erin, reserve fleet, and on Januarv 12 to the command of H.M.b. Royal Oak. Atlantic Fleet, whereto remained until October 3. 1922. On November 15, 1922, he was appointed coastguard captarn at Southampton, and during the present year was promoted rear-admiral.
