That the speedy completion of til* t: v : South Island East Coast railway should bs urged npon the Government was the subject of a deputation from the Marlborough Progress League*and the" Kaikoura Comity Council, which waited on the executive ,' of the Canterbury Progress League Ibis cvexmg. The chairman of the last-named body assured th« deputation that_ it* re» quest, would receive due consideration. -' - Mr, A. G. Henderson suggested " before the league could discuss the amotion it should be \ supplied with ■ extensiva facts and figures regarding" the possibilities of the, district concerned. He re* petted that differences < : in the past be* tween those mostly concerned had pre. vented the line from being . completed. A member of the deputation said thai; if should fra, understood that Che deputation was in no way antagonistic to 1 the Bullet Gorge scheme.
